This Unique Creature Found in the Depth of Sulawesi Sea

The Pink See Through Fantasia is a type of sea cucumber and is an incredible creature that was only discovered in 2007. It is a previously unknown species of free-swimming sea cucumber. Its mouth, anus, and intestines are all visible from outside.

Just like other bioluminescent creatures, this species can emit light. In fact, when in danger, it uses that light to alarm potential predators.

The Pink Sea-Through Fantasia (Enypniastes eximia) is a deep-sea sea cucumber (an echinoderm - related to sea stars and sea urchins). One of two species in the genus, both have evolved webbed swimming structures that allow them to move off the sea floor - an unusual adaptation for sea cucumbers. | Photographer: Laurence Madlin

The Pink Sea-Through Fantasia is a swimming sea cucumber found about 2,500 metres deep in the Celebes Sea in the western Pacific Ocean. They swim using the fingerlike webbing under their bodies.

The video above shows this pink cucumber at the 1:06 minute mark, but the entire video is worth watching for all of its strange creatures.

Further, the aptly named sea cucumber was found in the Celebes Sea, Indonesia.  This is a remote area of the western Pacific Ocean and is bordered by the Sulu Archipelago, Mindanao Island of the Philippines, the Sangihe Islands, Sulawesi, and Indonesia.

This pink creature earned its name for its transparent skin that clearly displays a show-stealing arrangement with its intestines, mouth, and anus entirely visible from its outside.

There still remains much more for experts to learn about the creature to date.
