Southeast Asia's Top 9 Cities in the Asia's Best Awards 2022
One of the most popular tourist destinations in recent years is urban escape. Here are the top cities in Southeast Asia for 2022, according to Travel & Leisure Asia, based on a study.
Bangkok has long held the title of being the world's most visited city for a variety of good reasons. Bangkok definitely hits the mark if you're looking for friendly grins, spicily prepared street cuisine, and the feeling of the wind in your hair as you ride a motorbike or tuk-tuk through the city. The city also caters to those who enjoy Michelin-starred meals and private pool apartments with high thread counts.
There are plenty of possibilities, whether you're staying in Bangkok for just one night on your way to the islands, using it as a base to explore more of Southeast Asia, or planning to stay for what we think should be a devoted vacation in and of itself.
Singapore received zero percent of the votes for being a dirty city and 100 percent of the votes for being the greenest city, making it the cleanest and greenest city in the world. Singaporeans are said to value their surroundings and green areas, therefore we are well-deserving of the title of "cleanest and greenest," according to a yearly ranking of the world's top cities on the Time Out Index survey result in 2021. 62 percent of respondents agreed.
We've seen you explore the city like a visitor and take up new, exciting hobbies like kayaking and longboarding during the course of the year. We've enjoyed sharing our hiking adventures with our audience, which has included finding secret or abandoned locations, and we hope that doing so has inspired others to go trekking.
3. Da Nang
Along with the newly constructed modern structures, Da Nang also attracts tourists with its warm Quang (Qung) hospitality, approachable locals, and everyday conveniences, all of which leave a lasting impression on visitors to this worthwhile city.
Aside from mountains, passes, and opulent resorts, Da Nang offers the most romantic beach on earth. Despite this, you won't feel as though you're in a busy, well-liked tourist area where you might be taken advantage of at any time or place. It is simple to understand because Da Nang locals do not view the city as a location for "pickpocketing" tourists. For them, Da Nang is just a treasured city that everyone takes great pleasure in, and they adore it so much that they always strive to preserve the greatest perception of Da Nang in the minds of all visitors.
4, Kuala Lumpur
The Expat City Ranking 2021 places Kuala Lumpur as the best city in the world for expats. More than 12,000 ex-pat respondents from around the world participated in the most recent Expat Insider survey in January 2021. They come from 174 different countries and 186 different regions around the world.
The survey results are as follows, making Kuala Lumpur the top choice for expats:
- 85% of people say they are content with life in general.
- 78% are content with the cost of living.
- Making new friends is simple, claim 65%
- 71% of people are content with their jobs.
- 72% of people say they have a good work-life balance.

Due in part to the city's low cost of living, Hanoi is a popular tourist destination for those on a tight budget.
A wide variety of transportation options are available in Hanoi, including picturesque rail routes that stop at significant Vietnamese cities and ride-sharing services. The vast bus network in Hanoi allows people on a tight budget to travel more affordably.
Tourists can reserve a few nights in a hostel in Hanoi to save money on lodging and meals, as they are incredibly cheap there.
Last but not least, visitors to Hanoi may also save a ton of money by filling their bellies with the city's well-known street food. Try some of the local specialties, such bún thang (rice vermicelli soup), bánh gối (fried dumplings), or phở xào thịt bò (Vietnamese stir-fried noodles)!
