Meatballs are commonly made using a combination of chicken, beef, fish, shrimp, pig, or any combination of these. Meatballs are made with ground beef, pepper, garlic, sesame oil, flour, eggs, starch, sugar, and salt to make bakso goreng.

The consistency of the meatballs, which should have a springy feel, separates bakso from other Asian variations.

Meatballs have a long and illustrious history. A form of oriental cuisine was born out of a child's show of love and loyalty to his mother during China's Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), which eventually spread throughout the archipelago and became quite famous in Indonesia.

Once upon a time, near the end of the Ming Dynasty in the 17th century AD, a child named Meng Bo lived in Fuzhou, China, with his mother. Meng Bo desired to prepare the beef that his mother preferred. His mother's teeth, however, were no longer able to chew meat due to her advanced age.

Meng Bo then considered how to prepare soft meat for his mother to eat. He instantly remembered a soft delicacy like mochi made from sticky rice and pressed till smooth.

Meng Bo's narrative and meatball recipe quickly became famous in the city. People came to learn the recipe for this famously wonderful ground beef with soup out of curiosity.

Meatballs, often known as ground beef, have become one of the Chinese people's favorite cuisines, and their popularity has grown from generation to generation.

Finally, immigrants from their home country, China, brought this sort of cuisine to the archipelago. Meng Bo then considered how to prepare soft meat for his mother to eat. He instantly remembered a soft sticky rice delicacy called mochi and crushed it till smooth.

Interesting fact! Even though meatballs originated in China, there is a chance that meatballs (bakso) in Indonesia are not exclusively Chinese. The Dutch, who had colonized this region for centuries, have also left their mark. The Netherlands and several other European countries have a meatball-like dish called meatballs, which is usually served with noodles and a thick sauce.

Yellow noodles, vermicelli, mustard greens, tofu, hot broth, and a few meatballs usually make up a dish of meatballs. However, there are many different types of meatballs from different parts of Indonesia, each with its own distinct characteristics.
