After Queen Elizabeth II Dies, the Sultan of Brunei Becomes the World's Longest Serving Monarch.

Queen Elizabeth II died on Thursday, September 9, 2022, ending her 70-year throne and making the Sultan of Brunei the world's longest-serving king.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah has ruled for 54 years and 341 days, having ascended to the throne in 1967. Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah led Brunei to full independence from Britain and raised his country's standard of living to one of the highest in the world during his decades of rule.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and Queen Elizabeth II have been close friends, with the sultanate and England enjoying close relations marked by several ceremonial associations.

Brunei's Royal Family holds several honorary positions in the British Armed Forces. Queen Elizabeth II knighted Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, an honor also given upon her father.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and Queen Elizabeth II met in London and Brunei's capital, Bandar Seri Begawan, on a ceremonial occasion.

I am the founder and Editor-in-Chief in Good News From Indonesia (GNFI), a growing and influential social media movement, and was selected as one of The Most Influential Netizen 2011 by The Marketeers magazine. I also wrote a book on "Fundamentals of Disaster Management in 2007"?, "Good News From Indonesia : Beragam Prestasi Anak Bangsa di dunia"? which was luanched in August 2013, and "Indonesia Bersyukur"? which is launched in Sept 2013.
