The Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Train or Kereta Cepat Jakarta-bndung (KCJB), which is currently undergoing a trial period, is predicted to be the fastest train in the Southeast Asian region with a top speed of 420 km/hour. With the existence of this train, Indonesia also became the first country in Southeast Asia to have a high-speed train.

KCJB also made history as the fastest train in Indonesia. The speed of ordinary trains in Indonesia is limited to 120 KM/h, but the KCJB exceeds this limit with a higher speed. However, the KCJB will only be operated at 350 km/h. This high-speed train will travel 142.3 km and take only 30 minutes.

In preparation for the operation of the KCJB in August 2023, KCIC's Corporate Communication Manager, Emir Monti, revealed that they are working with all stakeholders to make various preparations. KCIC is also focusing on the development of infrastructure that will increase the speed of the high-speed train, while working with the Ministry of Transportation on the certification process that is being prepared.

In operation, the KCJB will offer three different classes, namely VIP class with a capacity of 18 passengers, 1st class with a capacity of 28 passengers, and 2nd class with a capacity of 555 passengers, as well as special space for the disabled. However, the KCJB fare is still under discussion by the Ministry of Transportation, so it cannot be officially announced yet.

In the future, KCJB will be integrated with various modes of transportation, including Jabodebek LRT, KCJB Feeder Train, Bandung Raya Commuter Line, Bus Rapid Transit, and various other modes of transportation. With these connections, the KCJB will become an important part of the urban transport network in the Greater Jakarta and Greater Bandung areas. This complete connectivity will facilitate mobility and provide more efficient transportation options for the community.

KCJB will be an efficient modern mass transportation solution that will help improve the performance of the transportation network system in an innovative way. In addition, KCJB is committed to using electric energy or non-fossil renewable energy sources to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and support sustainable development. With this step, KCJB is part of Indonesia's commitment to a greener future.

On the other hand, by reducing the travel time between Jakarta and Bandung, it will also benefit the tourism sector by making it easier and faster for tourists to travel between the two cities. The KCJB project is expected to improve connectivity and accessibility, which can attract more tourists to visit Jakarta and Bandung.
