C-130 J - The Drive

The Philippine Air Force (PAF) has initiated the purchase of three C-130J-30 Super Hercules tactical airlifters, part of their ongoing efforts to modernize their fleet. The Department of National Defense (DND) recently authorized the procurement, signaling a significant advancement in the PAF's transport capabilities. This acquisition, which commenced in 2021 under the AFP Modernization Program, was granted to Lockheed Martin, a renowned American corporation specializing in aerospace, defense, and technology.

Since the 1970s, the PAF has utilized C-130 aircraft for various missions, including humanitarian aid, military operations, and disaster relief across the Indo-Pacific region. The inclusion of the C-130J-30 model in their inventory marks a substantial stride toward fortifying their defense capabilities, offering an expanded cargo space compared to the standard C-130J variant. Lockheed Martin plans to commence deliveries in 2026.

Rod McLean, vice president and general manager of Lockheed Martin's air mobility and maritime missions, praised the Philippine Air Force for their demonstrated commitment to using the C-130 to provide assistance and hope in diverse conditions. This addition to the PAF's fleet contributes to the global presence of the C-130J Super Hercules, now operating in 22 countries.
