With a resounding 27.3% of respondents selecting Japan as their dream getaway, it's evident that the Land of the Rising Sun captivates the imaginations of many. Impressively, this preference for Japan transcends boundaries, reigning as the top choice in six ASEAN member states, including Thailand (52.1%), Indonesia (37.2%), Singapore (34.1%), Brunei (28.3%), the Philippines (28.3%), and Myanmar (20.9%). It's a testament to Japan's allure that spans cultural, historical, and modern interests, drawing travelers from diverse backgrounds across Southeast Asia.
However, while Japan holds the lion's share of appeal, the European Union (EU) also garners considerable attention, capturing 15.3% of Southeast Asians' travel aspirations. Notably, Vietnam stands out as a country where the EU holds the highest preference, with 30.1% of Vietnamese respondents expressing a desire to explore Europe's diverse tapestry of cultures and landscapes. Simultaneously, within the Southeast Asian region itself, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is a preferred destination for some, particularly in Malaysia (24.2%) and Cambodia (28.4%).
