Indonesia has clinched the top spot in Southeast Asia for contributing the highest number of games to the PC gaming platform, Steam. This accolade comes from a respected curator on Steam, VirtualSEA, known for reviewing independent (indie) games from Southeast Asia.
According to VirtualSEA's data shared via the @VirtualSEAsia handle on X (formerly on Twitter) as of early January 2024, Indonesian indie developers have contributed approximately 256 games to Steam. This figure surpasses the indie game productions of other countries in the region, with Thailand and Singapore trailing in the second and third positions, offering around 158 and 134 games on Steam respectively.
The increase in the number of games from Thailand marks a significant achievement, as Singapore previously held the second position. While Thailand now boasts more games than Singapore, Indonesia remains the leading contributor.
