After winning the 2024 AFF Futsal Championship, Indonesia received more exciting news. For the second time, Indonesia has been selected to host the 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup.
Since the inaugural tournament in 1999, this prestigious competition has reached its 17th edition. Indonesia previously hosted the event in 2002, but the national team's campaign ended at the group stage.
In an official release on Monday (November 11), the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) confirmed Indonesia as the host of the 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup. The decision followed deliberations by the AFC Executive Committee on Friday (Nov 8).
The event will take place over 18 days from May 14 to May 31, 2026. As a prerequisite for qualifying for the final tournament, all AFC member countries will take part in a qualifying round from November 22 to November 30, 2025.

Southeast Asian Countries' Achievements at the AFC Futsal Asian Cup
Throughout the history of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup, Thailand have consistently dominated the tournament. The national team's have finished runners-up three times (2008, 2012 and 2024) and third five times (2000, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2016).
Notably, Thailand has qualified for every edition of the tournament. Their consistent success in reaching the final since the inaugural edition makes Thailand one of the most successful teams in the history of the competition.
Behind Thailand, Vietnam reached the semifinals in 2016, ultimately finishing in fourth place.
Indonesia's best performance at the AFC Futsal Asian Cup came in 2022, when the national team reached the quarter-finals. In nine previous appearances, Indonesia's journey has always ended in the group stage. Unfortunately, in the 2024 edition, Indonesia failed to qualify for the final tournament after being eliminated in the qualifying round.
Meanwhile, Myanmar made history by reaching the finals of the 2022 AFC Futsal Asian Cup, their first qualification in six years.
