Indonesia U17 Becomes Sole Southeast Asian Team in U17 Asian Cup Quarterfinals

Indonesia U17 has advanced to the quarterfinals of the U17 Asian Cup. In the three matchdays in Group C, Putu Panji and his teammates achieved three victories.

Indonesia defeated South Korea U17 1-0 (on April 4). They then beat Yemen U17 with a score of 4-1 (April 7). Subsequently, they overcame Afghanistan U17 with a score of 2-0 (April 11).

This achievement by Indonesia makes the Young Garudas the only team from Southeast Asia to qualify for the quarterfinals of the U17 Asian Cup.The other two Southeast Asian nations, Thailand U17 and Vietnam U17, failed to match Indonesia's success.

Thailand, which was in Group A along with Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, and China, suffered three losses in their three matches. Thailand finished at the bottom of Group A.Thailand lost 1-4 to Uzbekistan U17 (April 3). They were then defeated 1-3 by Saudi Arabia U17 (April 6). And they lost 0-2 to China U17 (April 9).

Meanwhile, Vietnam, who were in Group B, experienced a similar fate to Thailand. Vietnam finished at the bottom of Group B with three points.

Grouped with Japan, Australia, and the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam consistently drew their matches.All three of Vietnam's matches ended in a 1-1 draw. This happened against Australia U17 (April 4), Japan (April 7), and the United Arab Emirates (April 10).

Indonesia U17's Best Productivity

When it comes to productivity, Indonesia U17 is the highest. Indonesia scored seven goals in their three matches.On average, in the group stage, Indonesia scored 2.3 goals per match.

Vietnam's productivity is below that of Indonesia. Vietnam scored three goals in their three matches, meaning their average goal per match is one.

Meanwhile, Thailand has the lowest productivity among the Southeast Asian representatives in the U17 Asian Cup. Thailand only scored two goals.

Thailand U17's Most Vulnerable Defense

Indonesia's defense has been solid in this U17 Asian Cup. In their three matches, the goal defended by Dafa Setiawarman was breached only once. Thus, Indonesia's average goals conceded in the group stage is 0.33 goals per match.

Vietnam follows Indonesia for the lowest goals conceded record. Vietnam conceded three goals in their three matches, meaning their average goals conceded per match is one.

Thailand is the most vulnerable. Thailand conceded nine goals in their three Group A matches. This means Thailand's average goals conceded is three goals per match.
