Southeast Asian volleyball teams have made a strong impression in the latest Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) world rankings. Their recent performances on the international games showcase a promising upward momentum for both women’s and men’s divisions in Southeast Asia.

Below is a breakdown of Southeast Asian countries that currently rank within the FIVB top 50 for both women's and men's volleyball divisions in 2025.

Southeast Asia Women's Volleyball Ranking

Thailand

Worldwide rank: 20

Total points: 160.42

Thailand holds a great position in the worldwide ranking, while also leading the women’s volleyball team in Southeast Asia. Despite their recent challenges, they continue to hold a strong position in the global standings. Between June 22 and July 13, Thailand experienced five consecutive losses in international matches. The team were narrowly defeated by Bulgaria (2-3) on June 22, and then faced back-to-back losses against the USA (1-3) on July 9. On July 10 and 11, Thailand were utterly defeated by Germany and the Dominican Republic with a 0-3 score. The most recent match, the team lost 2-3 to Canada on July 13. Although Thailand suffered a gradual drop in FIVB points, they remain Southeast Asia’s strongest contender.

Vietnam

Worldwide rank: 27

Total points: 141.21

In contrast to Thailand, Vietnam has shown consistent upward momentum in recent matches, making it the second-best women’s team in Southeast Asia. Between June 8 and June 14, Vietnam secured dominant wins over Chinese Taipei, India, Australia, and the Philippines—all by 3-0 scores. On June 13, Vietnam gave a spare point to Khazakhstan and eventually defeated them, resulting in a 3-1 score. These consistent victories have added over 24 points to their total points, pushing the Vietnamese women’s team up to rank 26.

Philippines

Worldwide rank: 47

Total points: 71.78

The Philippines women’s volleyball team also has seen improvements in their global ranking after a series of commendable performances. After a close loss to Iran (2-3) on June 9, they bounced back with victories over New Zealand (3-0) on June 11, Kazakhstan (3-0) on June 12, and Taipei (3-2) on June 13. Unfortunately, in the most recent match, the Philippines women’s team were defeated by Vietnam with a 3-0 score. However, the team’s overall performance was enough to secure a spot in the global top 50, reinforcing their presence among Southeast Asia’s teams.

Indonesia

Worldwide rank: 50

Total points: 58.03

Indonesia’s women’s volleyball team recently broke into the global top 50. Although they lost to Kazakhstan on June 9 with a 3-0 score, they pushed their best performances in the four recent matches. Indonesia secured constant victories over Mongolia (3-0) on June 11, New Zealand (3-0) on June 12, Hong Kong (3-1) on June 13, and Iran (3-1) on June 14. These recent victory scores contribute over 24 points, helping Indonesia secure its current rank in the top 50 and strengthen its standing on the world stage.

Southeast Asia Men's Volleyball Ranking

Indonesia

Worldwide rank: 45

Total points: 78.41

Indonesia’s men’s volleyball team is currently ranked 45th globally and is the only men’s team from Southeast Asia within the FIVB top 50. Their most recent performances are marked as Indonesia's back-to-back wins that contribute to their global ranking. On July 13, they defeated the Philippines (3-0), followed by another win over the Philippines (3-2) on July 16. On July 17, Indonesia won against Vietnam (3-1), then continued their streak with a dominant 3-0 win over Cambodia on July 19 and a close 3-2 victory against Thailand on July 20. These matches significantly boosted their global ranking and total points.

From these ranks and their performances, we can see a bright future for Southeast Asia’s volleyball teams. Their consistent rise of Southeast Asian teams in FIVB world rankings reflects their growing competitiveness and dedication to volleyball development, setting the stage for their future international success.
