The Hinatuan Enchanted River is a hidden natural wonder located in the province of Surigao del Sur. This river is famous all over the world for its bright blue water and its mysterious, unexplored depths. It sits near the boundary of two small villages and flows directly toward the Philippine Sea.

Rules for Preserving the River
In the past, people were allowed to swim anywhere, but this started to damage the limestone walls. In 2017, the government officially banned swimming in the main deep blue lagoon to protect it. Now, visitors can enjoy the water in a designated swimming area located 10 meters away from the center.
Before visitors are allowed near the water, everyone must attend a short safety briefing. This session lasts about three to five minutes and teaches you the basic park rules. For example, visitors are asked to speak in hushed tones to respect the nature spirits.
Safety is a top priority because the river becomes very deep very quickly. Life vests are mandatory for all swimmers, even if you are an expert at swimming. The rental fee for these vests is usually already included in your entrance ticket.
To keep the water pristine, food and trash are strictly forbidden near the river banks.
