Vietnam ranks third in Asia as one of the least vegetarian-friendly countries, according to a report by Insider Monkey published in April 2024.
Insider Monkey’s research on “17 Least Vegetarian-Friendly Countries in Asia” utilized various sources, including SCMP, Yahoo Finance, Insider Monkey, Ease my Trip, Fodor’s Travel, Asher Fergusson, Huff Post, Vegan vs Travel, Tatler, Reddit, Exotravel, Dave Does The Travel Thing, and Metador Network to assess the availability and variety of vegetarian options across Asia.
Japan topped the list as the least vegetarian-friendly country with a score of 12, followed by China and Vietnam tied for second place with a score of 11.
Other Southeast Asian countries on the list include the Philippines ranked sixth with a score of 7, Indonesia seventh with a score of 6, Thailand fifth, Laos tied for fifth, Myanmar twelfth, Cambodia thirteenth and Malaysia fourteenth.
