According to recent data from Forbes, Indonesia's wealthiest individuals far surpass their Vietnamese counterparts in terms of net worth. The combined wealth of the top five Indonesian billionaires eclipses that of the top five Vietnamese billionaires by a staggering margin.
Indonesia’s richest individuals hold significantly greater wealth than their Vietnamese counterparts. Robert Budi Hartono and Michael Hartono top the list, each boasting a net worth of $43.3 billion. This far exceeds Viet Nam’s richest individual, Phạm Nhật Vượng, whose net worth stands at $4.2 billion.
The disparity extends beyond the top names. Indonesia’s second-wealthiest person, Low Tuck Kwong, commands a net worth of $27.4 billion, vastly outpacing Viet Nam’s Nguyễn Thị Phương Thảo, who holds $2.8 billion. This trend continues throughout the rankings, highlighting the significant gap in wealth accumulation between the two nations.
Several factors contribute to this economic divide:
While Indonesia maintains a strong lead, Viet Nam’s rapid economic growth and emerging industries may narrow the gap in the coming years. However, for now, Indonesia remains the undisputed leader in billionaire wealth within the region.
