The Philippines became the world’s largest rice importer in 2023/2024!
Out of the top 20 countries in the world, 4 of them are in Southeast Asia. The Philippines ranks the highest with rice imports of 3.8 million metric tons, Indonesia ranks third in the world with 2.5 million metric tons, Vietnam with 1.4 million, and Malaysia with 1.2 million.
