Batik Air will resume direct flights from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Osaka Kansai International Airport (KIX) starting December 15, 2025, marking the airline's renewed commitment to Japan following the suspension of its previous Kuala Lumpur-Osaka service via Taipei in 2024.
The revamped service will operate three times weekly using the wide-body Airbus A330 aircraft, featuring 12 Business Class seats and 365 Economy Class seats, providing passengers with a superior long-haul experience compared to the previous Boeing 737 operations.
Batik Air Chief Executive Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy described the Osaka route as one of the airline's most anticipated returns, emphasizing Japan's status as a dream destination for Malaysians and Osaka's unique charm with its rich history, vibrant urban culture, and extraordinary food scene.
The service launch aligns strategically with Visit Malaysia 2026, expected to boost Japanese arrivals while strengthening KLIA's position as a regional hub with seamless connections across Indonesia, ASEAN, and beyond, supporting two-way tourism between Malaysia and Japan.
Ticket fares for the direct Kuala Lumpur-Osaka route start from RM599 for Economy Class and RM3,599 for Business Class one-way, all-inclusive, making Japan's cultural and culinary capital more accessible to Malaysian travelers seeking winter and cherry blossom season experiences.
