ZSL scientists identified Sumba Island, NTT, as a "lost world," finding 12,000-year-old fossils of dwarf elephants, giant lizards, and Komodo dragons.
It marks the first Komodo fossil found outside Flores, hinting the species may have originated from Sumba, published in Proceedings of the Royal Society B.
ZSL researcher Samuel Turvey urged more paleontological research across Indonesia's Wallacea islands.
