The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) sent a high-risk humanitarian mission to Tehran, Iran, led by Chairman and former Vice President Jusuf Kalla. This follows intense communication with Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Boroujerdi in Jakarta regarding urgent humanitarian needs in Iran.
PMI prepared medical equipment, emergency medicine, and logistics for displaced people. Field medical teams are also on standby for deployment if conditions allow.
Limited access remains the primary challenge. Airspace closures across parts of the Middle East may hinder aid distribution. PMI is considering land routes, though these are slower, more expensive, and higher risk.
Jusuf Kalla emphasized that conflict must not obstruct humanitarian efforts.
