Singapore's Changi Airport has more than doubled its supplementary flight capacity to China for the 2026 Lunar New Year travel rush, with six major airlines collectively adding over 600 additional flights between Singapore and 15 Chinese cities from February 1 to March 8, 2026 — a dramatic increase from the supplementary flights offered during the same period in 2025.
Air China, China Eastern, China Southern, Loong Air, Spring Airlines, and Xiamen Airlines are leading the charge, with Air China, China Eastern, and Xiamen Airlines each adding more than 140 extra flights to accommodate the surge in travel demand during the festive season.
The expanded routes will connect Singapore to 15 cities across China, including major hubs like Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chongqing, as well as smaller cities such as Changsha, Ningbo, and Wenzhou — with Nanchang, Ningbo, Wenzhou, Wuhan, and Zhengzhou receiving supplementary flights for the very first time.
To support the late-night flight surge and ensure smooth operations, Changi Airport and Jewel Changi Airport are rolling out enhanced services, including extended early check-in facilities at Terminals 1 and 3, round-the-clock operations at the Changi Lounge with buffet service, and extended operating hours for Jewel's iconic Rain Vortex light show, which will run until midnight daily throughout the period.
The massive capacity boost reflects the strength of the Singapore-China travel corridor, with China ranking as one of Singapore's biggest travel markets, supported by 37 direct city links and visa-free travel arrangements that continue to drive robust passenger demand between the two countries.
