Singapore’s Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal (TMFT) has undergone a S$20 million upgrade to enhance travel between Singapore, Malaysia’s Johor state, and Indonesia’s Riau Islands.

The revamped terminal features self-service check-in kiosks, automated immigration lanes, and expanded F&B options, cutting processing time from an average of 20 minutes to just five.

A new passport-less clearance system using facial and iris biometrics allows smoother entry and exit for travelers, while ferry services continue to connect TMFT with two destinations in Johor and four in the Riau Islands.

With its capacity expanded by 20% to accommodate over three million passengers annually, the terminal is prepared to support future travel demand, particularly with the growth of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JSSEZ) and increasing tourism in the region.
