Tourists from Switzerland top the spending chart in Indonesia, averaging US$2,190 per visit, which is nearly 58% above the overall foreign tourist average of US$1,390 per visit.

This pattern reveals a clear trend where long-haul travelers, particularly from Europe and North America, tend to stay longer and spend significantly more during their time in Indonesia.

In fact, 9 out of 10 countries with the highest tourist spending in Indonesia come from Europe and North America, underscoring the high economic value that these markets bring to the country's tourism sector.

By contrast, visitors from neighboring countries such as Singapore and Malaysia spend less than US$710 per visit, highlighting a key gap between tourist volume and actual spending value.

This data sends a strong signal to Indonesian tourism stakeholders that attracting high-spend, long-haul travelers rather than simply boosting visitor numbers should be a strategic priority for maximizing tourism revenue.
