Ube, the Philippines’ iconic purple yam, is gaining global attention as cafés look beyond the long-running matcha trend.
According to the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry, the country generated $3.06M in ube exports in 2025, with yam exports reaching 610 metric tons, up 43% from 2024.
From lattes to ice cream and cakes, ube’s rise shows how Filipino flavors are finding a bigger place in global café culture.
