Lebak district, Banten province may sounds new to your ears. But the good news is, the administration of Lebak, Banten province, will develop 29 tourist destinations by 2019 in order to attract more domestic and foreign tourists. The head of Lebak’s Development and Economy Planning Division at the Regional Development and Economy Planning Divison at the Regional Development Planning Agency, Imam Hidayat recognizes that Lebak has many captivating tourist sites that needs to be developed in order to improve the local economic growth and supporting “Lebak Sejahtera”.

The tourist sites that are going to be developed are about 29 tourist sites. Those are either along the coastal areas, Baduy and Kaolatan traditional and cultural tours, hot springs, and rafting activities. One of the beaches that will be developed further is Sawarna Beach. Sawarna Beach will spoil its visitor by surfing facility. Moreover, the location of the beach facing the Indian Ocean makes the beach looks prettier than ever.

Furthermore, the unique Baduy culture also suitable for the tourist destination. Baduy culture comes from Baduy communities that refused to adopt any modern lifestyles and conforming themselves in the traditional customs. They inhabit a forest area for about 5,100 hectares and does not have any paved roads or electricity. Baduy communities have to walk around with white outfits, and they refuse to use any modern vehicles or even using public transportations to go out from their area. Imam said, “There are so many anthropologists around the world that coming to Baduy in order to conduct a research and study”.
