The Nissan Terra will make its way to a number of markets in Southeast Asia, after the Japanese automaker announced its rollout plan for the frame-based SUV. The Terra, which is available as a five- or seven-seater, has already made its debut in China, where it is offered as the former.

According to Nissan, customers in the Philippines can already start pre-ordering the new Terra ahead of deliveries starting from August 2018, making the country the second in the world to receive the SUV. Unlike the petrol-powered version sold in China, the Terra destined for the Philippines will be powered by the YD25DDTi 2.5 litre four-cylinder turbodiesel that makes 190 hp and 450 Nm of torque.

The SUV will also be introduced in Thailand and Indonesia during this fiscal year, with Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam set to follow – no mention of specifications yet. Malaysia was not listed as one of the markets where the Terra will be offered.

The Terra will be built at Nissan’s production hub in Thailand for the Southeast Asian market. “The new Nissan Terra is being built in and for Southeast Asia. It demonstrates our commitment to making innovation accessible to more customers in the region,” said Yutaka Sanada, Nissan’s regional senior vice president for the Asia and Oceania region.

Features available on the Terra include the Nissan Intelligent Mobility suite of systems (Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning and Intelligent Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection), locking rear differential, Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control and a ground clearance of 225 mm.
