The Safest Banks In Each Southeast Asian Country 2019

Global Finance has named the Safest Banks in 110 countries around the world as part of an exclusive survey to be published in the November 2019 issue.

In addition to the Safest Banks by Country, the full report also includes the following: World’s 50 Safest Banks, World’s 50 Safest Commercial Banks, 50 Safest Banks in Emerging Markets, Safest Islamic Financial Institutions in the GCC, and Safest Banks by Region (Africa, Asia, Australasia, Central & Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, North America and Western Europe).

Banks were selected through an evaluation of long-term foreign currency ratings—from Moody’s, Standard & Poor’s and Fitch—and the total assets of the 1000 largest banks worldwide. “Business operations are more globally intertwined than ever before, putting corporations both large and small into new markets.

The list of Safest Banks by country provides insight into financial institutions that rarely make global headlines but can offer deep local knowledge and networks. Global Finance provides this list to help corporate financial executives find the best partners to navigate financial regimes in each of the countries in which they do business, said Global Finance publisher and editorial director Joseph D. Giarraputo.

In Southeast Asia, DBS Bank is named “Safest Bank in Asia” for the tenth consecutive year. DBS is also fourth-safest among the world’s commercial banks and 14thon Global Finance’s list of the World’s 50 Safest Banks.

Said Joseph D. Giarraputo added, “Asia, while one of the strongest regions globally, is currently being heavily impacted by changing trade policies. The Safest Banks are chosen because they have provided security and stability to companies and investors despite ongoing uncertainty. These institutions are well placed to navigate the potentially troubled waters ahead.”

“Once again DBS shines as a leading light in banking. DBS is ranked the #1 Safest Bank in Asia, and with strength around the world, also earned a top score among commercial banks and a place among the 15 Safest Banks worldwide. These results underscore DBS’ reliability for investors, corporate clients and retail depositors alike. Although the list changes from year to year, DBS always ranks at the top,” added Global Finance.
