After a successful run since 2015, the Prambanan Jazz Festival will return to the Prambanan Temple in Yogyakarta, Indonesia for three days from July 5-7, 2024. The festival will feature renowned musicians from Indonesia and abroad. Entering its 10th year, the festival is a collaboration between Taman Wisata Candi (TWC) and promoter Rajawali Indonesia.
Interestingly, this year's Prambanan Jazz Festival will be even more special with the presence of AR Rahman, a world-renowned maestro in music. AR Rahman is known for composing iconic songs such as "Chaiyya Chaiyya" and "Jai Ho", which electrified Broadway stages in Europe and America. The recipient of prestigious awards such as the Oscar and Grammy Awards, AR Rahman was dubbed the "Mozart of Madras" by Time magazine twenty years ago.
In a press release, Prambanan Jazz Festival founder Anas Alimi said that AR Rahman's presence at the festival is a dream come true. It is a very significant cultural event, not just a musical performance.
AR Rahman's performance on the second day of the Prambanan Jazz Festival on July 6, 2024 will be the main highlight of the event. Febrina Intan, CEO of PT TWC and co-promoter of the Prambanan Jazz Festival, said AR Rahman's distinctive music will add diverse cultural dimensions to the Prambanan Temple. The festival is a special place for fans to enjoy the magic of AR Rahman's music in a unique atmosphere.
