Brunei has provided more than US$1 million to send 5,920 air-dropped packages of ready-to-eat meals to Gaza. The aid includes ready-to-eat meals that can be stored for a long period, with each food package providing breakfast, lunch, and dinner for one person.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday (March 14), the funds provided amount to USD 1,050,000.00 (approximately BND 1,399,545.00). The funding comes from Brunei's Humanitarian Fund for Palestinians in Gaza 2023.
On March 13, 2024, the first shipment consisted of two "air-drop" operations conducted by Jordanian military aircraft. The airdrops targeted the northern coastal areas of the Gaza Strip, where thousands of Palestinians are facing hardship. The handover ceremony took place at the King Abdullah II Air Base and was attended by representatives from the Brunei Embassy in Amman, Jordan and the Jordanian Government.
Meanwhile, two additional "air-drop" operations are planned separately at the same location on the evening of March 14, 2024 and March 15, 2024.
