Malaysia's tourism industry continues to innovate with the launch of 62 new tour packages that offer unique experiences for tourists. Priced from as low as US$40, these packages allow visitors to enjoy a variety of exciting activities, from agro-tourism at durian farms to nature adventures such as glamping and trekking.
As reported by The Star, Tourism Malaysia deputy director-general Saidi Bundan mentioned that these packages are spread across 12 states: Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor, Melaka, Johor, Pahang, Kelantan and Sabah, providing more diverse options for tourists.
The price of durian tour packages in Malaysia varies widely, ranging from RM70 (US$40) for simple experiences such as durian tasting in Relau and Kedah to RM4,450 (US$960) for a luxurious three-day, two-night package in Bukit Bilut Hills, Pahang.
Durian tourism is on the rise in Malaysia, especially during the harvesting season (late May to August). Recommended luxury tour packages include the Penang Golf Experience, which includes a four-night stay at the Bukit Jawi Golf Resort, golf and durian tasting. There is also the Minimalist Forest Glamping tour, which offers a two-night stay in a forest chalet with hot water and a nasi lemak durian lunch.
Malaysia has set a target of attracting 27 million international tourists this year, with Indonesia expected to contribute 4 million visitors. The durian-themed tour packages are one of the strategic initiatives to achieve this goal while promoting the rich culture and local heritage.
