The public is now required to have a Garuda ID account as a condition for purchasing tickets to watch the Indonesian national team at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) in Jakarta. This policy has been implemented by the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) to streamline the ticket sales process for Indonesia's home matches.
The PSSI's initiative is designed to register supporters and anticipate potential disturbances similar to those that have occurred in the past. According to the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI), Garuda ID is designed to ensure that only verified account holders can access tickets and attend matches.
Under this new policy, only Garuda ID account holders will be allowed to book tickets. Therefore, members of the public who wish to attend national team matches at the GBK Stadium must register in advance.
PSSI hopes that by introducing a unique identity for each fan, the safety and comfort of spectators can be better maintained. This rule will take effect for the Asian Zone 2026 World Cup qualifying matches, where the Indonesian national team will face Japan on November 15, 2024 and Saudi Arabia on November 19, 2024.
Documents to be prepared
Supporters will need to prepare several important documents, including an active email address and password, which must be carefully maintained after registration. In addition, supporters will need to provide a KTP, which will be photographed and uploaded as part of the verification process.
Fans will also be required to upload a selfie for facial identification purposes to support the security system implemented by PSSI. This identification step, along with the installation of over 100 CCTV cameras at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (GBK), is aimed at preventing potential disruptions during the event.
How to Create a Garuda ID
- Open the website pssi.org on your device.
- Once on the homepage, click the banner and select register for Garuda ID.
- Next, enter your email address and create a password.
- Click “Register.”
- Enter the OTP code sent to your registered email for verification.
- Upload a photo of your ID card (KTP) and fill in the personal information as per your ID.
- Upload a selfie for facial recognition registration and click “Continue.”
- Wait for the verification process to complete.
- If verification fails, double-check your personal details.
- Make sure you have correctly filled in your information and complete the verification again.
Once verification is complete, you will officially have a Garuda ID.
