Based on a study conducted by HelloSafe, a Canadian financial services company, Laos has been named the cheapest country to travel to in 2025.
Among 136 countries analyzed, Laos recorded an average daily expenditure of £10 (US$10.97), far below other countries such as Kazakhstan (£14/US$15.37), Rwanda and Ghana (both £16/US$17.56) and Mongolia (£18/US$19.74).
Laos, along with Mongolia and Georgia, is also among the world's cheapest destinations, with accommodation ranging from £6 (US$6.58) to £13 (US$14.27) per night.
In contrast, Barbados tops the list as the country with the highest daily cost of travel at £261 (US$286.44). Antigua and Barbuda follow in second place, while Saint Kitts and Nevis take third place with daily budgets of £244 (US$267.78) and £215 (US$235.95), respectively.
This data is derived from an analysis of travelers' expenses, including food, lodging and local transportation costs in each country.

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Laos attracted 2.6 million international visitors in the first eight months of 2024, with the majority of tourists coming from Thailand. The rapid growth of Laos' tourism sector underscores the country's appeal to international travelers.
