Amidst the dominance of giant e-commerce platforms and the influx of cheap imported products, local MSMEs and brands often struggle to compete. To address this challenge, the Muhammadiyah Business Network (SUMU) has launched Jagalaba.com, a community-driven marketplace designed to support small and medium-sized enterprises.

According to SUMU Secretary-General Ghufron Mustaqim, Jagalaba.com is more than just a marketplace—it is a community-based economic movement that ensures financial circulation remains within MSMEs.

"With a decentralized system, Jagalaba.com allows profits to flow back to grassroots economic players," said Ghufron.

Restoring Economic Sovereignty, A Fair Solution for MSMEs

Unlike major marketplaces controlled by a single entity, Jagalaba.com operates through a decentralized network of Muhammadiyah entrepreneurs across Indonesia. They not only encourage the public to shop on the platform but also create opportunities for local MSMEs and brands seeking a fairer and more sustainable ecosystem.

With its community-driven economic model, the platform charges only a 4% administration fee, significantly lower than major platforms, which can reach up to 20%. A portion of the revenue is allocated for system maintenance, while the rest is redistributed to contributors and MSMEs actively involved in the ecosystem.

This model fosters a "closed-loop economy," ensuring that money continues to circulate within the community, ultimately benefiting small business owners rather than external entities.

A Community-Based Marketplace Alternative

Jagalaba.com invites MSMEs and local brands to shift away from giant e-commerce platforms that burden them with high commission fees, unpredictable regulations, and unfair competition against cheap imported products. This marketplace encourages sellers to bring their loyal customers, fostering a community-driven ecosystem that does not rely on algorithms favoring large capital.

"This is a stand against a system that benefits only big players while sacrificing small businesses. We aim to restore economic sovereignty to the people," said Ghufron Mustaqim.

As a key initiative of the Muhammadiyah Business Network (SUMU), Jagalaba.com is not operating alone. SUMU actively supports MSMEs through financial literacy programs, access to funding, policy advocacy, and business training for its members. By collaborating with various stakeholders, including the media and business communities, SUMU strives to ensure that MSMEs not only survive but also grow and thrive.

The launch of Jagalaba.com is expected to mark a turning point for MSMEs, providing them with a fairer marketplace alternative—one built on community support, lower fees, and a vision for a more just and sustainable digital economy.
