SSC Napoli capitalized on Inter Milan's defeat in the 34th week of the Italian League. Napoli managed to climb to the top of the Serie A standings after defeating Torino on Monday (28/4).

Napoli secured three points at the Stadio Diego Maradona in Naples after defeating Torino with a score of 2-0. Both goals for the Partenopei were scored by Scott McTominay (7', 41').

Napoli soared to the top of the Italian League standings with 74 points, three points ahead of Inter Milan (71-74).

A few hours earlier, Inter had lost 0-1 to AS Roma in a match at the Giuseppe Meazza in Milan.

For the record, the last time Napoli was at the top of the standings was in the 25th week. After that, Napoli slipped to second place and Inter took over the top spot in the Italian League standings.

"We must not get too complacent just because we are now leading the competition. The team must remain calm, stay relaxed, and take each match as it comes," McTominay said to DAZN after the match.

"This victory will be meaningless unless we win the next match and the one after that. So, let's stay calm and see what happens at the end of the season," continued the former Manchester United player.

With these two additional goals against Torino, McTominay has now scored 11 goals in Serie A. However, for all competitions, including the Coppa Italia, the Scottish player has netted 12 goals.

McTominay's goal tally for Napoli has also surpassed that of the legendary Scottish player Denis Law in a single season. During the 1961-1962 period, Law scored 10 goals in a season while playing for Torino in the Italian League.
