Como 1907 is a professional Serie A football club based in the city of Como, in the Lombardy region of Italy. The club was first founded on May 25, 1907, under the name Como Foot-Ball Club.
Throughout its history, the club has experienced ups and downs in the leagues that ultimately led to bankruptcy. Consequently, the club had to restart from the bottom under a new name, Como 1907, in 2017 following bankruptcy.
Following its acquisition by the Hartono brothers in 2019, Como steadily climbed back up from the lowest tier of Italian football league. The club ultimately secured a promotion to the top-flight Serie A in 2024.

Two years later, the club successfully secured a spot to compete in Europe's premier club football tournament, the UEFA Champions League (UCL), for the 2026/2027 season.
Como's Ups and Downs Since the 1990s
From 1990 to 2001, Como played ten seasons in Serie C, the third-highest professional division in the Italian football league. They earned promotion to the second-highest division, Serie B, in the 1994/1995 season under coach Marco Tardelli, but dropped back down to Serie C the following year.
Como returned to Serie B in the 2000/2001 season while still led by club president Enrico Preziosi. Club coach Loris Dominissini etched his name in history as the only Italian football coach to achieve back-to-back promotions from Serie C to Serie A, the highest division, in consecutive years.
In the 2002/2003 season, Como faced harsh challenges following their promotion to Serie A. One of the main issues was the poor relationship between Preziosi and the Italian football federation (FIGC), which ultimately led to Preziosi's departure from the club. At the end of the season, Como was relegated back to Serie B.
Following Preziosi's departure, the club suffered financial difficulties that prevented them from assembling a competitive squad for the following season. It resulted in Como's relegation to Serie C. The crisis peaked when the club was declared bankrupt in 2004.
After bankruptcy, Como worked its way back up by playing in Serie D during the 2005/2006 season. After two years in the competition, Como won the Serie D title under coach Ninni Coda in the 2007/2008 season.
In the following season (2008/2009), they were promoted to Serie B under coach Stefano Di Chiara, although they were subsequently relegated back to Serie C.
Throughout the years from 2009 to 2015, Como spent six seasons in Serie C. Under the guidance of coach Carlo Sabatini, they earned promotion to Serie B after finishing fourth in the 2014/2015 season.
However, their subsequent season in Serie B did not go smoothly due to the rotation of three different managers, resulting in another relegation to Serie C.
As a consequence of the relegation, the club was once again declared bankrupt in 2016. Afterward, through bankruptcy proceedings, Como was taken over by Akosua Puni Essien. The club's name was changed to FC Como. However, because FC Como was not admitted into the league membership, the club had to restart from Serie D in the 2017/2018 season under the name Como 1907.
The Path to the UCL Following the Hartono Brothers' Acquisition
The following season, Como was acquired by the Hartono brothers through SENT Entertainment for EUR850,000 (approximately 952,000 USD) on April 4, 2019. The club's new owners began addressing the financial and infrastructure issues left in the wake of a difficult period. The new management settled outstanding debts amounting to approximately EUR150,000 (around 168,000 USD).
In February 2025, the new management planned to renovate the Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium, which has served as the club's home ground since its establishment in 1927. The stadium currently holds a capacity of approximately 12,064 spectators.
Following the acquisition, Como won the Serie D competition and advanced to Serie C for the 2019/2020 season. In the following season, Como won Serie C and earned promotion to Serie B. During the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 seasons, Como maintained its position in Serie B.
Como secured promotion to Serie A in the 2023/2024 season as runners-up with a tally of 73 points.
In their debut season back in Serie A, Como finished 10th. A year later, Como achieved a record by qualifying for the UEFA Champions League for the 2026/2027 season. Coach Cesc Fàbregas led his team to a 4th-place finish with 71 points in the 2025/2026 Serie A season.
On the pitch, Como’s squad was bolstered by two key contributors throughout the campaign. The midfield was anchored by attacking midfielder Nico Paz, who contributed 12 goals. Meanwhile, the attack was spearheaded by striker Anastasios Douvikas, who finished as the club's top scorer with a collection of 14 goals over the course of the season.
