Jakarta is once again preparing to become the epicenter of international music celebration with the return of the BNI Java Jazz Festival 2025, set to take place from May 30 to June 1 at JIExpo Kemayoran, North Jakarta.
This year’s edition is especially meaningful, marking 20 years of the festival's presence in celebrating music, especially jazz, alongside music lovers from around the world.
More than just a three-day concert series, Java Jazz 2025 brings a fresh spirit with a variety of special programs that embrace nostalgia, innovation, and cross-generational celebration.
Line-Up: A Blend of Global Greatness and Local Energy
The 2025 festival features a genre-spanning, multigenerational lineup. From the international stage, UMI, the soulful R&B singer from the U.S.; Lee Ritenour, legendary jazz guitarist; Tontrakul, a Thai producer fusing ethnic and electronic sounds; and Tara Lily from the UK, known for blending jazz, hip-hop, and South Asian cultural elements, are all set to perform.
From Indonesia, beloved acts such as RAN, Tompi, Rizky Febian, Endah N Rhesa, and Wijaya 80 will bring a distinct local flavor to the festival.
In addition, a wave of bold, young musicians will showcase innovative approaches to jazz, creating a space for fresh and original collaboration.
Special Shows: More Than Just Concerts
The celebration will be amplified by three special performances: Raye, Tunde Baiyewu, and Jacob Collier. British artist Raye, who recently made waves at the 2025 Grammy Awards with her hit Oscar Winning Tears, will deliver a soulful performance filled with lyrical depth.
Tunde Baiyewu, the iconic voice of Lighthouse Family, will take the audience on a nostalgic journey through the '90s with hits like High and Lifted. Meanwhile, Jacob Collier, renowned for his complex arrangements and limitless sonic exploration, is set to deliver a musical experience like no other.
Special Programs: Celebrating a Remarkable Journey
Beyond the music, this year’s Java Jazz Festival presents a nostalgic project that captures the festival’s 20-year legacy. One highlight is the IP Sing Along performance, an interactive, karaoke-style session where musicians perform while lyrics are displayed on a big screen, inviting the audience to sing together. This program is designed to feel warm, familiar, and communal, creating a sense of togetherness amid the lively concert atmosphere.
There’s also a retrospective project featuring highlights from past performances by artists who have shaped the festival since its early years. Special segments will spotlight names like Andien, Barry Likumahuwa, and Dira Sugandi, blending nostalgia with a celebration of their artistic growth over the years.
