Tomorrowland, the world’s most iconic electronic music festival, is finally making its debut in Asia.

After nearly two decades of being exclusively held in Belgium, the festival will arrive with two major series. It is famous for its grand stages, spectacular lighting, and world-class DJ lineup. "The Magic of Tomorrowland" in Shanghai in November 2025 and "Tomorrowland Thailand" in Chonburi in December 2026.

Shanghai Opens the Series

The first edition, titled “The Magic of Tomorrowland,” is set to take place on November 22, 2025, at Hero Dome in Shanghai’s futuristic The Bund district. Serving as a prelude to the first full-scale Tomorrowland Festival in Asia, this event will offer a fresh take on the iconic festival.

Unlike the open-air spectacle in Belgium, the Shanghai edition will unfold entirely indoors, featuring a more intimate and experimental experience.

Carrying the theme "Paperworld", the event promises an immersive experience combining music, futuristic visuals, and multisensory storytelling. Clinton Lau, Head of Music Festivals at Hero Esports and Head of Music at INS Land, stated that the festival will feature all the signature elements of Tomorrowland infused with local character.

“You’ll experience the sound, the stage design, the storytelling — all the signature elements that define Tomorrowland — reimagined through the lens of China, and brought to life in one unforgettable space,” he said, as quoted by Travel and Leisure Asia.

Meanwhile, Dino Ying, Chairperson of Hero Esports and INS Land, said the event will merge world-class music with cutting-edge technology while promoting cultural tourism. He believes The Magic of Tomorrowland will become a new milestone in Asia’s entertainment landscape.

Details regarding ticket sales and the artist lineup were announced in September 2025.

Thailand Becomes the First Full Host of Tomorrowland Asia

After Shanghai, the full edition of Tomorrowland will officially take place in Asia for the first time, with Tomorrowland Thailand set to take place in December 2026. The festival will take place in Chonburi Province, which is easily accessible from U-Tapao, Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang international airports.

Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), confirmed that Chonburi was chosen based on its expansive space, accessibility, and well-prepared accommodation infrastructure. She added that the investment for this festival is estimated to reach billions of baht, supported by a long-term contract of up to five years and an annual budget of around USD 10 million.

The festival will not only feature music performances, but also academies and other supporting programs to enhance the skills of Thailand’s entertainment industry professionals. The government expects hundreds of thousands of visitors to attend the two-to-three-day event, which will also offer tourism packages and exclusive tours for participants.

Thailand’s Prime Minister, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, welcomed the plan enthusiastically. In a social media post, she wrote, “Tomorrowland in Thailand is one step closer to becoming reality. Thailand will not merely serve as the ‘host venue’, but as the heartbeat of the festival.”

This initiative is also part of Thailand’s soft power strategy to bolster its international image through music, creativity, and the cultural economy.

New Era for EDM Festivals in Asia Begins

Since its debut in 2005 in Boom, Belgium, Tomorrowland has grown into the largest EDM festival in the world, attracting over 400,000 attendees every year and selling hundreds of thousands of tickets within hours.

Now, with The Magic of Tomorrowland in Shanghai and Tomorrowland Thailand in Chonburi, a new chapter begins—not only for electronic music fans, but also for Asia as a major stage in the global entertainment industry.
