The rapid rise of globalization and digital transformation is reshaping the competency requirements of today’s workforce. Young talent is now expected not only to excel academically but also to adapt across cultures, understand international dynamics, and work effectively in global contexts.
Across Asia, educational and professional mobility continues to increase, making international exposure an essential component of career development for the younger generation.
In response to these demands, BINUS University developed the BINUS Asia Collaboration program, an initiative that provides access to learning and collaboration opportunities across various Asian countries.
A Wide Range of International Activities
This program offers a variety of academic and non-academic activities that allow students to gain firsthand international experience. These include Study Abroad, China Business Trip, Overseas Internship, and International Access & Networking.
These activities are held across several Asian destinations such as Mainland China, Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea.
The program is supported by an extensive international network consisting of 250+ partner universities in 40 countries and 2,200+ global companies. This network enables students to access diverse learning environments that are aligned with the current needs of the global job market.
“BINUS Asia Collaboration is our concrete step toward building a borderless learning ecosystem. We want every Binusian to have the opportunity to connect, discover, and learn across countries and become part of a globally inspiring community,” said Dr. Nelly S.Kom., M.M, Rector of BINUS University.
Student Experiences in an International Setting
Student stories highlight how the program broadens global perspectives. One participant, Olivia Grace Susanto, an International Business Management (IBM) student, shared her interest in cross-border business practices:
“I’ve always been curious about how companies expand across countries, how they negotiate, adapt, and remain relevant globally. At BINUS, I truly get to learn all of that.”
Students who joined the study abroad program in Taiwan reported increased confidence and readiness to face the dynamics of international work. Their experience abroad also deepened their understanding of cultural differences and various learning systems.
Another example comes from Veravati Chearlius, a Global Business Marketing student who participated in an enrichment program that included overseas study opportunities. She not only learned international business theory but also strengthened her cross-cultural communication skills and adaptability in new environments.
Contribution to Student Development Goals
To date, 97.5% of BINUS students have gained international experience before graduation. This accomplishment supports the university’s long-term vision, BINUS 2035: Fostering and Empowering Society in Building and Serving the Nation, which emphasizes empowering students with the competencies needed to compete and collaborate on the global stage.
