AI’s Growing Appetite for Memory

When AI demand spikes, manufacturers naturally focus on higher-margin products designed for enterprise and data center clients.

Building new fabrication plants or expanding existing ones is a costly and time-consuming process that can take several years. In the short term, this limited flexibility means that increased AI-related demand directly reduces the availability of RAM for other uses.

Any disruption in the supply chain, such as geopolitical tensions or manufacturing delays, can further amplify shortages and price volatility.

For makers of computers and smartphones, rising RAM costs are becoming a significant challenge. Memory is a core component that directly affects device performance, multitasking capabilities, and longevity.
