Malaysia and Indonesia have agreed to renew the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the energy sector that was signed in 1997.
In a Facebook post, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the matter was discussed during his meeting with Indonesia’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, today.
The meeting also discussed strategies to strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly involving implementation aspects, coordination with relevant authorities and potential strategic investments, he added.
“The outcomes of these discussions will be translated into follow-up actions between both countries as efforts to further invigorate the energy industry and sector in the ASEAN region,” he said.
Fadillah, who is also Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, is on a working visit to Indonesia to strengthen strategic collaboration in the energy sector between the two countries.
Also present at the meeting were Sarawak Deputy Minister for Utility (Sarawak Energy and PETROS Affairs) Datuk Ibrahim Baki, Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia Datuk Syed Mohamad Hasrin Tengku Hussin and Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) Deputy Secretary-General (Energy) Mareena Mahpudz.
