For years, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival felt like a stage built for everywhere else. Southeast Asia watched from afar as American, British, and more recently — Korean acts dominated the lineups.

But that distance has been closing, rapidly. A growing roster of artists born or raised across the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and beyond have not only performed at Coachella, but left some of its most memorable moments.

Take a look at the Southeast Asian artists who have made their mark on or around the Coachella stage, and explore why their rise matters far beyond the desert.

1. LISA/Lalisa Manobal (Coachella 2019 & Coachella 2025)

LISA, born in Thailand, first performed at Coachella in 2019 as part of BLACKPINK — the first K-pop group ever to headline the festival. Six years later, she returned in 2025 as a solo artist for her own individual Coachella performance.

In 2026, she even made a surprise appearance at the Coachella set of DJ Anyma, performing their collaboration "Bad Angel" before a global livestream audience.

2. BINI (Coachella 2026)

In 2026, BINI made history as the first all-Filipino girl group to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, taking the Mojave Stage on April 10 and 17. The eight-member P-pop group has rapidly become one of the defining acts of a "Philippine Wave" that fans and commentators increasingly compare to South Korea's Hallyu movement.

Their journey to Coachella was built on years of steady momentum: sold-out tours, a dedicated global fanbase, and an unapologetic embrace of Filipino culture and language in their music and performances.

3. NIKI (Coachella 2022)

Born in Jakarta, NIKI started by sharing original songs online before joining 88rising. In April 2022, she became the first Indonesian solo artist to perform at Coachella 2022.

Since then, she has built one of the strongest international careers among Southeast Asian artists. Her cover of “You’ll Be in My Heart” reached the Spotify Global Top 30, and by the end of 2024 she had surpassed 3.3 billion streams.

She also became the first Indonesian woman to earn a Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America. Her third album Buzz (2024) received international praise and was followed by a world tour.

4. Rich Brian (Coachella 2022)

Few origin stories in music are as improbable as Rich Brian's. Born Brian Imanuel Soewarno in Jakarta in 1999, he taught himself English through YouTube and released his debut single "Dat $tick" on SoundCloud in 2016, a track that went so viral it earned a gold certification from the RIAA and landed him a deal with 88rising.

His debut album Amen peaked at number 18 on the US Billboard 200, making him the second Southeast Asian artist ever to appear in the top 20 of that chart. At Coachella 2022, he performed as part of 88rising's "Head in the Clouds Forever" showcase alongside NIKI, MILLI, Warren Hue, and other label artists.

5. Warren Hue (Coachella 2022)

Jakarta-born Warren Hue (Warren Hui) is part of a new generation reshaping Asian rap. He made the NME 100 list for 2022, was named to Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia, and won Best Song by an Asian Artist at the BandLab NME Awards for “omomo punk.”

Rich Brian has called him “an icon for Asian rap.” Like NIKI and Rich Brian, Warren Hue performed at Coachella 2022, expanding his global reach. His collaborations and solo work have positioned him as a distinct Indonesian voice in alternative music.

6. MILLI (Coachella 2022)

At 19, MILLI went viral at Coachella 2022 after eating mango sticky rice on stage, a moment that boosted global demand for the dish and even drew a public response from Thailand’s prime minister.

But she is more than that. Known for bilingual Thai–English rap and sharp social commentary, she turned a 2021 government lawsuit into a rallying point and emerged as Thailand’s most globally visible rap artist. Her 2025 album Heavyweight was promoted in Times Square, and she later became the first Thai artist to perform at Lollapalooza 2025.

7. Eyedress (Coachella 2022)

Born in Manila, Eyedress has built a distinct sound blending lo-fi hip-hop, post-punk, and ’80s goth influences. His 2019 single “Jealous” went platinum in the US after going viral on TikTok, while “Romantic Lover” and “Something About You” earned gold certifications.

He performed at Coachella 2022 and Coachella 2025, later taking the larger Mojave Stage. His 2025 album Stoner featured collaborations with Mac DeMarco and The Marías. With over 16 million monthly Spotify listeners, he has built a global audience while maintaining a distinctly Manila-rooted sound.

8. Beabadoobee (Coachella 2025)

Born in Iloilo City, Beabadoobee grew up in the UK and has become one of the most recognisable Filipino voices in global alternative music. She performed at Coachella 2022 and returned in Coachella 2025 on the main stage, performing tracks from This Is How Tomorrow Moves.

In 2022, she was the youngest Filipina to perform at the festival. Influenced by ’90s alternative rock and Filipino musical roots, her sound has reached a global audience. She is also set to perform at Lollapalooza 2026 alongside SB19.

9. No Rome (Coachella 2019)

Before many of today’s Filipino acts, No Rome made history in 2019 by appearing at Coachella 2019 as a guest of The 1975, performing “Narcissist” — becoming the first Filipino artist to sing on the Coachella stage.

Signed to Dirty Hit, he built a genre-blurring pop career through collaborations with Charli XCX and The 1975. His 2019 appearance is now seen as an early marker of the Philippines’ growing presence at Coachella.
