In a surprising turn just days before Malaysia’s highly anticipated LIMA’25 aerospace and maritime exhibition, the Indian Air Force has officially withdrawn its renowned Surya Kiran aerobatic team from participating in the event.

The team, known for their precision aerial displays and symbolic role in defense diplomacy, was initially expected to be one of the international highlights at the Langkawi showcase, which draws spectators and defense delegations from across the globe.

While no official reason has been publicly detailed, organizers and defense officials have confirmed the withdrawal, noting that all other scheduled international teams and showcases remain on track as planned.

The absence of Surya Kiran marks a notable change in the lineup, especially given the team’s past presence at LIMA and its role in fostering India-Malaysia defense ties through soft power and public engagement.

Even without this crowd-pulling act, LIMA’25 is set to move forward with a strong lineup of air and maritime demonstrations, continuing to position itself as a premier defense and aerospace event in Southeast Asia.
