Indonesia begins preparations for ex-Italian carrier Giuseppe Garibaldi operations ahead of arrival

Indonesia's Navy built a mock flight deck at Juanda Air Station, Sidoarjo, to prepare crews for the Giuseppe Garibaldi, its first aircraft carrier.

Admiral Muhammad Ali said bases are ready, targeting arrival before TNI's anniversary on October 5, 2026.

But the transfer may only be finalized in December 2026, and the ship still needs major modifications by PT PAL before operations.
