Indonesia records 13.37% annual rise in int'l tourist arrivals in Feb 2026, topped by Malaysia, China, Singapore

Statistics Indonesia (BPS) recorded 1.16 million foreign tourist arrivals in February 2026. This reflects a 13.37 percent increase compared to the same month in 2025.

BPS Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics, Ateng Hartono, stated that cumulative foreign tourist visits from January to February 2026 reached 2.35 million. This marks a 7.77 percent increase from the same period last year. It is also the highest figure recorded since 2021.

By nationality, Malaysia led all arrivals with 199,220 visits. This accounted for 17.18 percent of the total. It was followed by China with 150,820 visits (13.01 percent), and Singapore with 109,330 visits (9.43 percent).

Chinese tourist arrivals recorded the highest year-on-year growth. They increased by 68.89 percent, supported by the extended Lunar New Year holiday period. In contrast, Malaysian visitor numbers declined by 7.17 percent compared to the previous year, despite remaining the largest group overall.

In terms of travel mode, air transport dominated. It accounted for 78.10 percent of total arrivals, with 782,600 visits through main entry points. Sea transport contributed 18.42 percent, while land transport made up the remaining 3.48 percent.
