Indonesia to add 39 new airports, bringing national total of 296

Indonesia plans to build 39 new airports, raising the total from 257 to 296, said Transport Ministry official Lukman F. Laisa at the IABI Congress in Jakarta.

The plan aims to boost connectivity to remote areas and support economic growth and tourism.

Laisa said future airports will focus on safety, sustainability, and technology like AI, while building stronger aviation expertise through IABI.
