Indonesia's Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman has announced the establishment of dedicated agricultural lands spanning 10,000 to 20,000 hectares across South Sumatra and Kalimantan provinces specifically to supply food commodities to Palestine.

The co-management initiative between Indonesia and Palestine aims to produce 200,000 tons of rice annually along with horticultural crops including tomatoes, cucumbers, and garlic, with the majority of harvests designated for Palestinian food security needs.

President Prabowo Subianto has already instructed the government to provide an immediate humanitarian grant of 10,000 tons of rice to Palestine, demonstrating Indonesia's commitment to supporting Palestinian agricultural development and food sovereignty.

The bilateral cooperation agreement was formalized through a signing ceremony between Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman and Palestinian Agriculture Minister Rezq Basheer-Salimia in Jakarta on July 7, 2025, establishing a comprehensive partnership framework.

This strategic initiative will facilitate technology transfer and resource collaboration between both nations, with Palestinian expertise in water management complementing Indonesia's agricultural productivity strategies that have already attracted international interest from countries like Malaysia and Japan.
