Indonesia's kebaya is on the UNESCO list, but activists want its local variants recognized separately.
Rahmi Hidayati, founder of Komunitas Perempuan Indonesia dalam Kebaya, warns: "Once the grandmothers are gone, all the kebaya will be gone too." She urges youth to get involved.
At least 7 kebaya variants, including Basiba, Kartini, Sunda, and Bali, are under review by UGM and Universitas Indonesia before heading to UNESCO.
