Laos has joined OSJD Corridor 2, a rail route connecting it to Vietnam, China, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Estonia. The deal was signed at the 53rd OSJD Ministerial Conference in Dushanbe, led by Deputy Minister Ngampasong Muongmany.

This allows cargo to travel from Vientiane all the way to Europe under one system, making Laos a key transit hub.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport called it a major step in linking Laos to global rail corridors, as OSJD marks its 70th anniversary.
