Tony and Olivier Award-winning Filipina singer and actress Lea Salonga has been named one of 35 honorees in the 2025 class of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, making her the first Filipino to receive this prestigious recognition.
The Manila International Film Festival nominated Salonga for this historic achievement, which marks the first time a Filipina has been recognized on the Hollywood Walk of Fame since its establishment in 1960.
Her selection makes her the fourth Filipino and first Filipina to be honored on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, joining other Filipino Americans including Bruno Mars, apl.de.ap, and Rob Schneider who have previously received stars.
Salonga shared the exciting news on Instagram Stories, expressing her amazement at waking up to this "bit of amazing news" after Billboard published the announcement.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame selection committee reserves this accolade for those who have "made history," recognizing Salonga's extraordinary contributions to entertainment and her groundbreaking achievements in theater and music.
