The Malaysian passport has secured third position globally in the Passport Index 2025, granting holders visa-free access to 174 countries worldwide, according to an announcement by the Malaysian Immigration Department.
The Immigration Department stated that this achievement reflects international trust and recognition of the security features of Malaysia's travel document, which is highly regarded worldwide.
Malaysia shares third place with 15 other nations including Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Finland, Luxembourg, Italy, Denmark, Portugal, Switzerland, Greece, Austria, Norway, Ireland, and South Korea.
According to data from the Passport Index, the United Arab Emirates passport holds the top ranking globally, while Singapore and Spain jointly occupy second place.
This milestone demonstrates Malaysia's strong diplomatic relationships and the credibility of its passport security standards, positioning the nation among Europe's most powerful travel documents and ahead of many developed countries in terms of global mobility access for its citizens.
