Singapore will begin its “Long Island” coastal project in late 2026, with the Urban Redevelopment Authority planning to reclaim 800 hectares off the East Coast.
Minister Chee Hong Tat said the project is part of a $100 billion strategy to address rising sea levels, as 30% of Singapore sits less than five meters above sea level.
The project will also add a new reservoir and waterfront parks, strengthening Singapore’s long-term climate resilience.
