Thailand, EU move closer to finalizing long-awaited FTA deal

Thailand and the EU are nearing a historic Free Trade Agreement. The ninth round in Brussels finalized four more chapters, advancing the pact to two-thirds completion.

Commerce Minister Suphajee Suthumpun cited major progress on market access. Both sides now prepare for the tenth round of talks in Thailand this September.

Targeting a 2026 conclusion, the FTA will expand bilateral trade, attract high-tech investments, and secure supply chains amid global economic shifts.
